Felix Kee
Felix Klee is nineteen years old and grew up on a farm in the countryside of Lower Bavaria. He currently is travelling New Zealand by hitchhiking. He will be visiting all different kinds of artists on his atelier-tour to live and work with them for a while.
Felix loves nature and its inhabitants, which one can see in his artworks, that often feature animals from Bavaria or ones from his childhood memories.
“In my pictures I mostly deal with my very personal life, as I often illustrate lines out of my diary or simply depict the way I feel. The way I do that varies a lot. That’s probably the second thing about my work. I simply sponge up every inspiration I can find,” said Kee. “No matter if it’s a Renaissance painting (like in the “Carnivale” series), a illustration from a children’s book, an Erich Fried poem or an accient myth from Polynesia. The titles of my drawings are often quotations out of my diary, which I always carry in my pocket, just like my little sketch book.”
In his displayed series “Carnivale” Kee deals with the many facets of a personality. “The Carnivale series is a kind of self-portrait where I tried to depict the different roles in which I found myself in the last 12 months.”
His works that stylistically range anywhere between childbook illustrations, realistic drawing and abstract painting.
